In duration of 2weeks between 7th and 20th September 2015, the Tourism and Scientific Services Company Ltd – TASS (belongs to University of Social Sciences & Humanities, VNU Hanoi) and HIGO Program (Kumamoto University, Japan) have co-operated to organize the educational and cultural exchange program in Vietnam.
HIGO – TASS 2015 program occurred within 2 weeks. In the 1st week, HIGO group had some meetings in Hanoi such as: orientation and studying at University of Social Sciences & Humanities (USSH); visited the Hanoi School of Public Health, National Hospital Acupuncture, WHO & UN. The 2nd week focused on hands on experience in Sapa, Lao Cai Province to study more about the traditional herbal medicine experience of Red Dao people at Sapa-Napro company, as well as understand more about life style of hill tribe people in Ta Phin village.
In the first week, HIGO group which has members comes from Japan – Myanmar – Nepal – Bangladesh and China had the first meeting and orientation about Vietnam trip under the leading of Dr. Ishida Satoshi (HIGO Program) and MA. Vu Thanh Ngoc (TASS Co., Ltd). During in 3 days after at USSH campus, HIGO group had some lessons about history and culture of Vietnam via the class of Assoc. Prof. Hoang Anh Tuan PhD. – Vice Dean of Faculty of History; study about Vietnamese politics via a class of Assoc. Prof. Pham Quang Minh PhD. – Vice Rector of USSH, former Dean of Faculty of International Study; as well as learning about process of production and distribution of medicine in Vietnam. Especially, to provide more information for almost students come from Pharmacy and Medical Studies, TASS arranged some intensive seminar at Hanoi School of Public Health, National Hospital Acupuncture and WHO&UN also.
For the field trip at the second week, TASS arranged an exchange itinerary for HIGO group at Sapa-Napro company which is located in Ta Phin Village, far from Sapa about 12km. Sapa-Napro was established in purpose of combining the research, manufacturing and sales of Red Dao traditional herbal medicine. Since the inception in 2006, Sapa-Napro has been receiving many great supports from many experts of Hanoi University of Pharmacy and Vietnam National University of Agriculture in technology and sciences. Group had a great conversation and plenty time for Question & Answer about the business of company with doctor Nguyen Ba Nhung – Sapa-Napro professional advisor, former doctor of Military Hospital and Mr. Ly Lao Lo, director of Sapa-Napro.
Beside, under the leading of Dr. Hari Prasad Devkota – lecturer of Pharmaceutical at Kumamoto University Japan, HIGO group had a great journey to the jungle with a Red Dao herbalist to learn about distinguish and collect herb; hands on experience of planting at Plan Station of Sapa-Napro; making herbal medicine… Otherwise, group had a great time to meet, question & answer about traditional herbal medicine with some herbalists. Especially, HIGO group presented some warmly gift for poorest families in Ta Phin Village.
A wonderful and successful trip was tailor made & organized by TASS Co. and HIGO program. We were not only take a briefing of history, politics, culture of Vietnam and visit some sightseeing in Northern, but also took an field trip to Sapa section with many activities to learn and practice of traditional herbal medicine experience of Red Dao people. Furthermore, we have had an exciting and interesting farewell party night with many traditional performances came from Bangladesh, Japan, Myanmar, Nepal, China, Vietnam and we happy to giving our kindly presents to some poor families in Ta Phin Village.
A two weeks journey is not a long time but it extremely such an amazing trip for all of us. We did overcome the tropical rain in forest, wade across a stream, walks through many rock & roll roads… but many brightly smiles were spread in our group. TASS will try its best to tailor made and organize more and more meaningful humanities trips like this for your groups.
